Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Henley Media Group is looking for a commissioning editor / editorial coordinator who can assist with two forthcoming publications that we are publishing for the Commonwealth Business Council. One is on trade and investment in the Commonwealth and the other is on infrastructure investment in Africa.
We need someone to start asap - working a minimum of three days a week until early March.
The role will include:
Identifying and commissioning approximately 25 articles from respected authors in high profile associations, academic institutions and government departments
Chasing in all editorial for both publications (including pieces already commissioned)
Checking subject matter is appropriate
Sending articles to the subeditor to be subbed*
Sending to designer to be designed
Coordinating with authors to chase any missing materials and get sign off prior to publication
Proofing final articles prior to print.
You will also be required to do ad hoc writing, editing and research, eg writing suitable interview questions for government ministries that are paying to have an interview in the publications.
We are ideally looking for someone with editorial experience in the field of trade and investment or infrastructure development, particularly in relation to less developed countries.
The role will require you to work - at least some of the time - in the office in central London (Old Street, EC1).
* Nb If you have the capacity - and appropriate skills - to do the sub-editing of the articles, then we'd potentially be interested in combining this aspect into the role.
