Editing interview transcripts into biography text

As discussed, turn typed transcript of biography interview (5 hours) into coherent narrative account of the interviewee’s life story using information from the interview and additional research where needed, highlighting areas that need further information from the interviewee and using creative writing to make the story flow.

The edited draft should be divided into roughly chronological chapters as you see fit though the narrative doesn’t need to be strictly chronological and information should be given as it becomes relevant. Chapters can also be themematic (ie a chapter focusing on children, work, etc) if appropriate to the narrative.

Any information not included in the text should be saved in a separate file in case it is needed later on. Areas that need to be covered in later interviews (to be carried out by myself) should be highlighted in the text in square brackets and also noted in a separate file for easy reference.

I estimate the word count of the finished text will be around 15,000-17,000 (the guy in this case was quite softly spoken and the interview was an hour short on the usual ones that give 20,000 words). There is no pressure to reduce the word count – in fact, the longer the edited text the better but obviously without too much repetition or unnecessary prose.
