Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are seeking a highly skilled BigQuery specialist to facilitate the migration of analytical data from Google Analytics into BigQuery. This project involves the transfer of lifetime Google Analytics 3 data, as well as the backfilling and ongoing synchronisation of Google Analytics 4 information. The selected candidate will configure BigQuery and design optimised storage schemas to preserve all pertinent metrics and dimensions from GA3 while ensuring comprehensive historical datasets from GA4.
Automated scripting must be set up to upload new GA4 data on a daily basis and implement retention policies addressing privacy regulations. Data integrity and performance are of utmost importance.
The scope of the data migration includes one property in GA3 and one in GA4, with a single view in each. We aim to preserve all historic data for the time being. While we wish to retain as much data as possible, we recognise the need for a disposal process and the eventual culling of data. We will only require occasional access to the historical data for providing historical comparisons to business owners.
The expected volume of data to be transferred is significant, spanning from July 2013 to the present. We understand the importance of maintaining data integrity and performance requirements. While we aim to preserve all data, we recognise the need to implement a disposal process and start culling data over time.
There are no existing BigQuery datasets or schemas that need to be integrated or considered. The desired frequency for uploading new GA4 data is weekly. Adhering to GDPR regulations is a priority, and we require specific retention policies to ensure compliance. The project's scale is moderate, with two main users generating queries monthly. There are no specific plans for future growth or expansion of the analytics platform.
We envision integrating BigQuery with Looker, a data visualisation tool. The preferred timeline for the data migration and setup of the BigQuery solution is to complete the migration before the end of June 2023, to ensure the preservation of GA3 data.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience architecting similar analytics solutions on BigQuery. They should have a deep understanding of BigQuery's capabilities and features, as well as the ability to future-proof the platform through an elastic data architecture. Strong scripting skills and experience with automated data uploads are essential.
The ideal candidate will also have a solid understanding of data privacy regulations and the ability to implement robust retention policies. They should be proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues related to data integrity and performance.
If you are a skilled BigQuery specialist with a passion for data migration and optimisation, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity. Please submit your resume and a cover letter highlighting your relevant experience and qualifications.
