Firstly, please only place a bid for this work if you have more than at least a handful of quality ecommerce websites in your portfolio as we haven't got time to wade through bids from designers who have only built 1 or 2 sites thus far. Sorry!
Ok, smugplug.com will be a website specialiszing in high end, innovotive, custom designed Japanese fishing lures/plugs.
To start with we will have 4 or 5 manufacturers on board, each with 4 lure models and about 3 colour options for each lure. So around 18 - 25 fishing lure models each with about 3 colour options. Next to each different model of lure will be some brief blurb about the best way to fish with that particular lure.
Pages required will be along the lines of Home/About us/Products/Customer Service/Blog/Contact us and maybe lesser sub sections for sale items/privacy/links/wishlists/FAQ's etc
A few further points:
A merchant account is required. I'm aware that there are free options for online shopping baskets. We may even have a paypal facility as well.
At some stage we may want to be able to upload video of the fishing lures in action.
I need the facility for us (without the site going offline) to go on and change prices, update the blog, change quantities and maybe even enter details of a competition. Rather than having to call our web designer each time we want to make a slight change.
Wishlist option for each lure/plug is required.
I want the customer experience when using our site to be nice and easy. Seamless to navigate.
Please take a look at gancraft.com (Japanese site) Whilst I don't like the all the busy stuff at the bottom of the page, I do like the black background, edginess, classy look of the products highlighted and the fact they seem to come alive more against a black background over a white background.
For a more local idea of the content, rather than look/feel, have a look at monstertackle.co.uk
Whilst we know you generally get what you pay for when it comes to web design, this is a new business so please bear in mind the budget is very important. Worse case scenario for us is starting with something like Mr Site and then coming to a web designer like you next year.
On the technical side and to sum up, 25 products each with 3 or 4 colour options max to begin with and all the pages must be coded to XHTML 1.0 strict standard, CMS and CSS 2 (so should obviously be DDA compliant) and tested in IE 7 & 8, firefox 3, Safari and Chrome. Search engine ready and I can provide the meta-tags.
Good luck! Any questions just reply to this mail.
p.s We are in the process of producing a logo/strapline.
