I'm looking to improve the homepage of a new website I own, http://www.railhelp.co.uk.
I would like to keep the same navigation structure that is there at present (basically the menu bar and bottom menu structure), but anything else is open to amendments and changes. The offers section (3rd column) is also quite important to the homepage, but could be moved or amended as you see fit.
In particular, I require the following:
- Better integration of our two social media channels, Facebook and Twitter (both /railhelp).
- More obvious route to our ticket purchase page - to increase sales. This could be either graphical or an integration of the booking engine (either horizontal or vertical) that are listed at railhelp.co.uk/tickets and railhelp.co.uk/ticketsadvance.html respectively. (Please note: as they're remotely hosted by our partner, they are not reconfigurable so can not be resized or re-coloured at present).
- More prominent positioning of adverts to increase their effectiveness to our advertisers.
I believe this to be a relatively small job, which is a mere amendment to our homepage template to improve it, but due to lack of CSS knowledge, am having to look for assistance.
I have provided some examples for our 3 main requirements below, so that you can get a feel or understanding of what I would like:
Social media:
I like the way that VirginTrains.co.uk promote their facebook channel at the top of their page, but struggling to fit that in to make it look 'clean cut'.
Tickets:
The way networkrail.co.uk has a promotional scrolling banner of images is an idea we could consider.
Ads:
I particularly like the way that NationalRail.co.uk has a large ad and a clock at the top of the page and would like something similar or better.
