Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am building a website with Joomla 1.7 / 2.5
The website will be a fairly standard build using a purchased virtuemart template.
I have a basic understanding of the software and how templates, web hosting etc. works
I have installed Joomla 2.5 and XAMPP (Apache/MySQL/FTP) on my MAC on OS X, I installed everything fine and got a website with a working front end up on localhost. (however, once I tried to installed a free template via the cPanel, I got a '500 error' and the template manager and module manager ceased to open).
I know:
- who I want to host with (Siteground)
- the template I want to use (virtuemart)
- the domain I want to use (.co.uk)
However my knowledge of CSS, PHP & HTML is virtually non-existent but I am computer literate (from a user viewpoint) and am generally a quick learner.
I will require help:
- learning how to use the cPanel to maximum effect so that I can make changes to and maintain the website myself in the future .
- heavily customising a template to my specifications.
- making sure joomla works with virtuemart and that the ecommerce aspects function flawlessly.
- creating a fully working, polished looking website for the purposes of online retail.
thanks,
Mr Ransley
