Hello there.
I am an advertising student in need of a animated logo (in gif format) for mine and my creative partner’s Squarespace page.
Please find attached a screen grab of our homepage. As you can see, the look is quite contemporary, with moving gifs for the different squared tiles that sit on a plain white background.
The logo we would like to have designed is a combination of neon font (for ‘God Made’) and a different font (for ‘ADAM & STEVE’). The sign, in its entirety, should therefore read 'God made ADAM & STEVE’.
Please note that the neon font that you see spelling out ‘GOD MADE' in the attached reference, it’s position and case are all just suggestive.
In terms of how the neon sign is constructed, we’re open minded but wary of pre-made neon fonts that are out there (as you can see from the attached reference - which we’re not keen on at all). So we’re thinking a bespoke style will need to be drawn for this. Please find a file (neon reference) containing two references for neon lettering that we quite like. 'Still Life' (the top image) is really nice, although maybe not as legible as ‘exotourisme’, so this is worth considering. What we do like about ‘Still Life’ though is the way that black rods at the ends of neon signs normally look like they have fixed the sign into a wall.
In terms of how we envisage the neon animating, in our minds this would be the occasional and irregular flickering on and off, as if a neon sign was slightly faulty.
Also amongst the attached references are two suggested typefaces for ‘ADAM & STEVE’.
The top typeface is Circular std bold
The bottom typeface is IM FELL THREE LINE PICA PRO REGULAR
We’re leaning towards Circular std bold as we feel this will work better with the general contemporary aesthetic of the page, but we are open to seeing how they both look alongside the neon sign.
In terms of the relationship between what we see as the two elements of the logo: ‘God made’ and ‘ADAM & STEVE’ again please ignore the references that we’ve attached. We would actually be open to knowing whether ‘God made’ could be written, in a potentially slanted fashion like the ’Still Life’ reference, all in one line (as opposed to stacked), and possibly overlapping some of ‘ADAM & STEVE’. If this was possible, then naturally when the neon sign flickers on and off we’d like to see the light bleeding onto the ‘ADAM & STEVE’ part of the design.
Overall, as you might have guessed, we just want something with personality and character. So it’d be great to see what you’re capable of.
In terms of the experience required for the job, someone with an understanding of Squarespace would be a bonus, and we’d very much appreciate you starting a Squarespace page (which you can do for free) and testing the animation/design in the ‘Avenue’ template (which is the one we’re using) before sending us assets for review. And in terms of the background colours being used, we can of course send you colour codes/pantone refs as and when needed. And on top of all that, we’re more than happy to jump on a google hangout for anything that needs to be discussion in detail.
It also goes without saying that we’d love a full outline of your working processes, amends and revisions allowed within the agreed budget and examples of your previous work.
We look forward to hearing from you.
