Interior Design

Propose complete interior design, colour & style for a residential building and year round residential occupation.

The house ( originally an old Church build in 1945) is busy being converted to a residential building, with new additions. However there are no discernible church features to preserve. Currently there is the possibility for some minor changes ( mainly 1st floor, windows, doors) if required.
The building is entirely wood and is situated in North Sweden (lat 64) in a little village. The property is on the north side enclosed by a forest. Annual (local) climate and day-light conditions ( little daylight in Winter, no night in summer) need to be considered.
The building consists of 1st floor: master bedroom, master bathroom, separate dressing room and Ground floor: open plan kitchen, dining, living area with fireplace, sauna area, entrance hall with stairs to 1st floor and pantry/utility, and new annex building for variable use (ie guest bedroom, TV room, office or studio etc). 1st floor rooms are open the ridge, dining area as well.
The expected design should reflect an easy, comfortable, relaxed, practical yet stylish / minimalist approach, reflecting / incorporating existing objects & art where possible (ie Middle Eastern, African, Asian & north European, as well as many books) with some modern aspects, leaving space for some “old friends”/antiques
Owners: married, retired, self-sufficient, but not old, lived in various countries around the world, many interests.
Must have : light colours, place to retreat and relax or read a book, listen to music , write without being disturbed, an office, easy to clean & maintain, sunk-in tub, fireplace design, blinds ( for summer to block daylight during night time), curtains and/or shutters to preserve heat in winter, place for cat & dog.
Must not have : many dark colours or all white, plastic, too much leather, no Texas or US lodge style, too modern or sterile, wall to wall carpeting, too many tiles in bathroom .
