Fantasy Race concept art

Bachians, the little folk of the world. Standing usually about half the height of a man, rarely over three feet, Bachians are slender little furred folk with long, rabbit-like ears that hang down on either side of their heads. Thier of their body is covered in a soft fur, usually of brown but sometimes black or grey or even red and orange. Their faces are dominated by keen, bright, large eyes and short snouts.

The fur gathers in tufts at the elbows and on top of the head, and usually they have a lighter shade on their underbelly.

So I'm not sure how best to go about this, but basically I need my Bachians to look like their own thing. It cannot be anything too close to the images I posted because in time ,I hope to use these in a published work and I'd like not to get sued.

They also can't look too much like a specific animal, because Werecreatures are a thing in my setting, and if they just look like miniature Werebeasts, that kinda defeats the whole point. I'm gonna try not to be too nitpicky about this, but I do want to make sure it's done right the first time, so that I don't have to go back and find another artist to start all over.
