PROJECT BRIEF – WALL / FLOOR EDGE SECTION DETAIL
I need a clear architectural section drawing showing the junction between a first floor timber frame wall and an existing masonry wall with stone facing.
Key setup:
Concrete block wall with approx. 200mm stone facing (same height)
Timber wall plate sits on concrete block
Floor joists (225×75) sit on the wall plate and run flush with the outer face of the stone
Timber stud wall (100×75) sits on top of joists, aligned with the stone face
External build-up:
OSB sheathing
Breather membrane
Vertical battens (ventilated cavity)
Steel cladding (vertical sheets)
Base detail:
Include metal drip flashing projecting 50–75mm beyond stone
10–20mm ventilated gap above stone with insect mesh
Show how water is shed away from the wall
Requirements:
Clean, buildable section drawing
All layers labelled
Key dimensions included
Suitable for UK construction practice (Building Regs principles, no calculations required)
