Description
Experience Level: Entry
Interested in a very small project? I have a small flower bed next to the front door which I would like a cottage style planting plan and a maintenance schedule for. I estimate the area to be roughly 6m2. The bed is approx 3m x 3m as a right-angled triangle. The window is approx 1.5m to the right of the back 3m side.
The plot is south facing and goes under a dining room window to the front of the house, and along one side of the footpath to the door.
I currently have a honeysuckle growing up the wall which I would like to keep but don't know how I should maintain it.
I also brought a shrub that's in front of it. I don't mind moving that. There is a Himalayan honeysuckle in there too which an old gardener put in from another garden he maintained, along with some tall yellow flowers that grow wildly and spread (with tubers I think) - everywhere! Every year I take more and more out and try to take their roots out too, but they just keep coming back. I was wondering if some sort of weedkiller would work. Although I like to be wildlife friendly as much as possible, I would do anything to get rid of these flowers.
I am hoping for more of a country cottage patch with lupins, pansies, daisies, pansies, sweet peas - anything really. I love english primroses and cornflowers, forget-me-knots and scarlet pimpernels, but I would accept any design you come up with. As long as it has structure and colour, and scent if possible. I would like it to be bee and bug friendly to encourage wildlife. I am happy to extend the patch in any direction if needed.
I would like to know how to keep it in the best possible condition and what needs replacing on an annual basis if anything.
And ideas about what to do in the Autumn and Winter months.

I'm no expert, but my drawings are good. I can do a few things to make you visually happy. I can send you the details if you are interested. Thanks
