Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Project Overview
We are seeking a creative interior designer to transform an existing multi-purpose room (previously used as a dining and prayer space) into a cozy, homey yet formal seating area.
The design should balance comfort and simplicity with a refined aesthetic, while maximizing functionality through smart storage solutions and thoughtful spatial planning.
Objectives
• Convert the room into a welcoming seating/lounge area
• Maintain a minimal, clutter-free, and elegant atmosphere
• Incorporate hidden storage and functional design elements
• Address architectural constraints (doors, window, AC unit) in a seamless and visually appealing way
Design Style & Direction
• Style: Modern Scandinavian / Soft Contemporary
• Mood: Cozy, homey, clean, and subtly formal
• Color Palette:
• Beige / warm neutrals
• Light gray
• Soft light blue accents
• Muted greens (optional accents)
• Natural wood tones
Key Design Requirements
1. LAYOUT & SPACE PLANNING
• Optimize layout considering:
o Two entry points (doors)
o One window
o Dual access flow (room connects from two sides)
• Ensure smooth circulation without blocking pathways
• Create a clearly defined seating zone
2. AC UNIT CONCEALMENT (HIGH PRIORITY)
• The room contains a visible split AC unit that must be concealed creatively
• Solutions should:
o Maintain full functionality and airflow
o Be aesthetically integrated into the design
o Examples (for inspiration, not limitation):
Wooden slatted panels
Built-in cabinetry integration
Decorative screens or feature wall treatment
3. WALL UTILIZATION & STORAGE
• Use walls in a functional yet design-forward way,
• Incorporate:
o Built-in or concealed storage
o Shelving that blends with the aesthetic
o Multi-functional elements (display + storage)
• Avoid bulky or visually heavy solutions
4. PRIVACY ELEMENT
• Introduce a subtle privacy feature along one wall or zone
• Should feel integrated, not obstructive
• Possible approaches:
o Wooden partitions / slats
o Decorative screens
o Layered curtains or soft dividers
5. SEATING CONCEPT
• Comfortable seating arrangement that supports:
o Relaxation
o Hosting guests in a semi-formal setting
• Options may include:
o Sofa or sectional
o Accent chairs
o Built-in bench seating
6. LIGHTING DESIGN
• Layered lighting approach:
o Ambient (overall lighting)
o Accent lighting (feature walls, shelves)
o Optional floor/table lamps for warmth
• Avoid harsh lighting; aim for a soft, inviting atmosphere
7. MATERIALS & FINISHES
• Emphasis on:
o Natural wood textures
o Soft fabrics
o Matte finishes
• Keep palette cohesive and calming
Deliverables
The designer is expected to provide:
1. 2–3 Layout Options (2D plans)
2. 3D Visualizations / Renders (high quality)
3. Material & Color Palette Board
4. Furniture & Decor Selection (with references/links if possible)
5. Detailed Design Concept Explanation
6. Optional: Basic technical drawings for execution
Provided by Client
• Room dimensions and measurements
• Photos/videos of the existing space
• Any inspiration references (if applicable)
Budget & Timeline
• Budget: 50$ (USD)
• Timeline: 5–10 days preferred
Designer Profile
• Experience in residential interior design
• Strong portfolio in modern / Scandinavian / minimal interiors
• Ability to provide practical, buildable solutions (not just aesthetic concepts)

• Functional layout that respects room flow
• Balanced aesthetic: cozy + formal + minimal
• Thoughtful integration of storage and privacy elements
