Updating Browser based software interface

We have a software product with a browser based interface incorporating tabs such that multiple pages can be viewed fron this 'Control 'Centre' It is very flat currently and no inspiring. It needs to look cutting edge, modern and highly attractive. The tabs could be moved to the side of the screen to enable more to be added in the future as the bottom/top offers limited potential for this. See images below for example of what needs to be updated.
