Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Book 1 in a potential series of educational rhymes for toddlers containing 8 rhymes based on daily activities such as brushing teeth, crossing road, good manners, tying shoe laces, and the bedtime routine.
Most rhymes, but not all are based around named animal characters.
Potential for sale of quality product is significant, as is the potential for sale of sequels.
Initially self-publish, moving to a publisher with appropriate marketing expertise when profits allow.
Offer of employment is for a contracted agreement between author and illustrator (including book cover design), with a profit split of 65% (author) and 35% (illustrator).
To clarify, there will be no up front payment for this contract, it will be a percentage of profit from sale contract. Note that I can also unfortunately make no guarantees that the illustrator for the first book will necessarily be contracted for future works in this series, although the likelihood is pretty good.
Example of a similar rhyme (final draft in progress) is attached.
Please respond with an appropriate example of simple but eye catching book cover and illustration for this title and example rhyme. Will need to be compatible with a Microsoft Word formatted document initially.
Each rhyme will be a two page spread per the example. Please play with the positioning of the text to your heart's content to produce the desired catch for a child's eye, and readability for parents.
Enthusiasm for this type of project is paramount, and may well outweigh experience in a similar field for the right applicant.
Target publication date is 1st March 2009 or sooner.
If you think you can deliver on this timescale, and offer what the author is looking for, please respond as soon as possible.
Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
