Description
Experience Level: Entry
Information for the business: Furniture Designer
Industry: Art and Design
Design details: Hi,
I am a children's furniture designer. I am from UK but am based in Shenzhen.
I am experimenting with a range of wooden toys for kids which I will sell on Taobao. I will produce many different ranges but one will be Chinese zodiac signs.
See attached file for some examples of the toys.
I need you to design me the 12 Chinese zodiac animals which I can make into wooden toys.
There are a few design considerations:
The toys are made from solid Oak with rosewood inlay so the designs must be 2 colour maximum.
The rosewood must fit within the Oak body. There can be no pieces (ears/tails etc) sticking out.
Cutting rosewood inlay is not easy and complicated shapes are too problematic. Therefore the designs must have rosewood inlay features but they cannot be too small/complicated/fiddly. If you see the elephant's ear. That is about as complicated as the inlay can be. Also - the inlay adds a lot of work to the finished product so we cannot add too much.
You will see, with the Elephant in particular, that the design is very simple. It is not a true picture of an elephant, but rather a stylized picture of an elephant. I would like a similar style for my wooden toys.
What do you think?
Ideas for the visual style: Simple/Stylised
