Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Design details: The job is to produce an infographic “The Grow Youthful Food Pyramid”.
A scan of a sketch that I did is provided. Do not change the proportions for each food group, which are quite accurate.
The Pyramid will be drawn using Adobe InDesign. Scan in the drawings, which will be done in watercolour.
Watercolour drawings. You can see similar at http://growyouthful.com/GrowYouthful.php. The artist who did these drawings is no longer available. Please match them.
You will provide high-res scans of the drawings and the InDesign source files, which I can read in my InDesign CS4 and later modify myself.
Sour fruit, tree nuts. Draw a lemon or lime. Perhaps tree nuts if there is space and it looks good.
Meat, organs, eggs, fish, seafood. Include a drawing of a steak with bone and fat. Chicken, shell, fish, eggs.
Stock, soup. Draw a boiling stock pot containing a bone, a chicken foot, and perhaps a hoof, another bone, a chicken head, or a carcass etc.
Root vegetables, safe starches. Sweet potato, potato, squash, banana. Taro and tapioca optional if you can fit them in.
I plan to use your picture of the stock pot in the cover of my book, as well as in the Pyramid. So it should be larger and in sufficient resolution. The other drawings may be quite small as they will only be used in the Pyramid.
My food pyramid allows unlimited leafy green vegetables and low-sugar vegetables. Weave pictures of celery, lettuce, leafy greens, cucumbers, peppers, spinach, silverbeet, herbs, all around the outside of the pyramid from top to bottom, and perhaps between each food category. Keep them small but lots of them to give the image of plenty. Any other ideas to show you can eat as much of these veges as you want?
Other suggestions are welcome. Perhaps the death images at the base of the pyramid can be coloured in grey only. Different sized images?
Put “Copyright © 2014 David Niven Miller” in small type at the base of the pyramid.
Target audience: USA, Australia, UK. Mostly graduates.
Ideas for the visual style: Watercolour drawings. You can see similar at http://growyouthful.com/GrowYouthful.php. The artist who did these drawings is no longer available. Please match them.
Urls to draw inspiration from: http://growyouthful.com/GrowYouthful.php.
Where the design will be used: An introduction page in my Grow Youthful eBook; and a page at growyouthful.com
Extra notes:
