Description
Experience Level: Entry
Design details: I need 10 small silhouette illustrations completed, in the style of the BFG. The images will be overlaid onto moonlit photos. They only need to be approx 15m square.
Ideas for the visual style: Silhouettes
Preferred colors: Black and white
Descriptions for the illustrations as follows:
1) The Witching Hour
The BFG gallops across a moonlit, purple night’s sky with trumpet and suitcase in hand.
2) Image title: n/a
The BFG blows a dream into the room of Mrs Twit. Dream: upside-down monkey circus. Room: You can see a glass eye floating in a tumbler on her bedside locker. A walking stick is propped up against her bed.
3) Image title: n/a
Stonehenge. The BFG sits against a giant stone. A little girl sits next to him. He drinks pale green Frobscottle from a glass bottle and does a thunderous whizzpopper.
4) Image title: n/a
The BFG strides through the ancient forest, as tall as the tallest tree. He sees a terrifying wiry shadow cast across the forest floor. The shadow of the Grand High Witch.
5) Image title: n/a
The BFG blows a dream into the room of Willy Wonka. Dream: Inventing a giant sweet in the Inventing Room. Room: You can see a large bow tie, top hat and cane laid out on the writing desk. On the bedside locker is a half-eaten chocolate bar.
6) Image title: n/a
The BFG blows a dream into the room of Agatha Trunchbull. Dream: Winning gold in the hammer throw at the Olympics. Room: She is far too big for the bed she is in. She sleeps clutching a trophy. On the floor are papers. The one on top reads: AA Hotel Inspector’s Report.
7) Image title: n/a
The BFG peers down at an old, gilded copy of Nicolas Nickleby by Charles Dickens. He sits outside one of the hotel’s bedroom windows using the light from the room to read. A little girl sits next to him.
8) Image title: n/a
The BFG blows a dream into the room of James Trotter. Dream: Being reunited with his peach pals (giant insects) from the days of his adventures. Room: You can see a copy of Time magazine on the writing desk. On the front cover is a flying peach (b/g) and a young man (f/g). The title reads: Meet James, the world’s most eligible bachelor.
9) Image title: n/a
The Black Mountains. The BFG stocks up on dreams after a busy night. He stands absolutely still with a large net. On the ground is an open suitcase and empty glass jars.
10) Image title: The End
The BFG has returned home to Windsor Great Park. The giant door of his special house is closed. On it, a plaque reads:
Sophie and Queen is always welcoming here
- The Royal Dream-Blower
A beam of multi-coloured light shoots out of the top of his flat-roofed house and into the night’s sky. The silhouette of the BFG’s head can be seen in a third-floor window lit by a warm yellow light.

Hi Jason
Quick question for clarification, how much detail do you want on the images eg solid b&w silhouette or shaded? Also do you want to replicate the film versions or the Quentin Blake versions?
Thanks
Guy
