Graphic Design of Suitcase

Information for the business: Company that sells winter sporting equipment.
Industry: Sports and Fitness
Design details: We have already created a design envelope for the suitcase as in dimentions features etc. The features that we have inculded to set the product apart are for the target audience. We have the capability to produce out of many different materials. What I need help with is getting a good graphical design done, there is quite a bit of felxability with this.
Target audience: Athletes-Fitness Enthusiasts
Ideas for the visual style: Burton meets Nike
Things to avoid: Overly balanced, too generic.
Preferred colors: Contrasting colors on contrasting materials. I.e. Hard materials get bright colors, soft materials get darker colors.
Extra notes: Explanation of attached doccuments.
I'm only looking for a graphic design on the outside of the bag, so no need to concern yourself with the inside.
The bag will be separatable into two parts by a 360 degree zip. As you can see by the dimensions it is designed so that it can be left attached at one side and folded open.
The 'bottom' half will be rigid on the outside. I had the idea for a sort of exo-skeleton design. And the fabric is of the bag itself is mated/glued to the inside of this. The top half is soft shell.
The bottom half will include wheels on one edge. An extendable handle and on side carrying handle.
The top half should include carrying handles on two of the faces and one external zipping pocket. I also like the idea od having broad oversize straps to connect the two halves.
As you can tell I am more of an engineer than a designer, that is why I need someone with an artistic vision for this .
