Design Album artwork for digitally published music album to be sold/given out for free on Bandcamp. This means you need to design the square album artwork and a top banner. It will be immensely useful for you to check Bandcamp’s best-selling albums and make sure your album artwork design stands out to give this album best chance of success [do your own research].
Album artwork must be expressive of feelings that arise from listening to the tracks in it. At the same time must make some reference to real, acoustic, grand piano. Artwork must grab attention in maybe using beautifully bright colours that pop out or whatever you think is appropriate. Imagine it on the browsing page in Bandcamp, as a small thumbnail, it must be able to attract you and make you click on it. It is preferable you also feel the music and maybe also believe in it? (will be beneficial to your output that you actually like this work).
If this is successful, it might provide opportunities for future artwork for more similar albums and also possibly if i deicde to sell hard copies, I would need someone to make it. Selling hard copies might go well with the whole idea of real, hands-on made feel of this piano album.
The whole album is based on continuity. It is similar to other pianists such as Lubomyr Melnyk. The difference is this totally improvised on the spot [maybe this also should be somehow referenced on the cover, maybe you should improvise the work as well!]. Alot of focus went into use of the sustain pedal on the grand piano. The work uses sustain pedal to build on existing harmonies and produce more overtones. It is highly chord based, but very arpeggiated. It is therefore very dreamy but it is complex in nature. Your input could be simply a photograph, I imagine in my head a photograph of an epic scene of nature like grand canyon, or on the other hand a fictional illustrative painting.
I can provide photos of process of recording and grand pianos I played on. Some reading and research into sustain pedals and how they work, how a piano works, grand pianos, the body and the resonance it produces, how strings vibrate, etc... might be useful for you. Final artwork also must be natural, freely flowing just like my hands were freely flowing while playing. Its almost like there is someone playing a piano in your house. Imagine the keys on this grand piano, they bounce twice on their way up after being hit, as my fingers bounce from key to another, some of those keys havevn’t completed their motion yet [maybe do some research on how this mechanism works, I can provide some images]. On top this, as you would have noticed, this work is very emotional. This blend of major and minor chords take the listener from happiness to sadness states of mind.
I would obviously like few iterations (at least 3) if I am amazingly happy with what you have came up with first time, that’s it. A record will be provided to you upon receiving proposal as well as any images you ask for. I do have an idea of possibly turning this into an animated video, but let’s see what you have in mind. Looking forward to it.
