Hello,
We have a website using prestashop
There's a few things we need doing on it.
The first one is that we've been having a few errors on it recently, began displaying an "Internal server error 500" when a customer clicks through onto various items / pages of the site. This is random how often it happens or on which pages it happens.
We have not made any changes to our core website for a long time so I thought this would be a server issue, but our web host says it is the website
Secondly when viewing our website the https:// pages are showing in google chrome as "your connection to this site is not fully secure" this is also a recent occurrence.
The webhost replied with the following when we asked about this:
"""
From the php error log I can see that you are using an outdated mysql_connect() function in /xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/classes/MySQL.php
I suggest that you use mysqli or PDO. I believe you should be able to fix this by updating your CMS/plugins/themes etc.
As for the internal server error. I see that you have exhausted the memory limit allocated.
As for the SSL. If you have any hard coded links that are http:// you need to replace them with https://
"""
We also have a problem with the payment page freezing, it seems a bit random as and when this happens, we use a module called Sagepay UK by presto changeo
Lastly the website version is quite old PrestaShop™ 1.4.3 - Ideally we would like to upgrade this, I have tried myself but the appearance of the site changed quite a lot when doing the upgrade so I rolled this back. When initially doing the website many years ago (I set it up myself) I made a few changes to the default template so that we could have two category sections on the front end of the site, so I think this caused the issue as all of the catagories appeared as sub catagories after upgrading, the site looked quite different too. Ideally we'd want the site updating to the latest version but in such a way that the appearance does not change too much, or stays similar, and all of the key modules keep working, and the urls for the product pages stay the same so it does not affect our SEO etc
The most crucial issues at the moment are the server errors and payment page freezing as no doubt we loose sales because of this, however I was not sure whether upgrade the website and updating the modules etc would just fix all of these issues anyway, so If you could let me know if this is something you could help with and what your advise would be and estimated how many hours it would take that would be great
Best regards,
Michael
