Design details: Creative Cartoonist & Theatre Branding
I’m currently working on a project for a local theatre production and require the help from a creative cartoonist.
The pantomime is about how a town called Bournemouth, a seaside resort on the South Coast of England, was named back in the 1830/1850’s. The pantomime is called ‘A Town is Bourne’ and the storyline is based on a competition that is running for the local people to name the new area with the winner receiving a large cash prize. The local people all want to call the town after their surname and there is a love story with an eligible bachelor and 3 women who fight for this love. As it is a pantomime there is a lot of humour throughout.
I’ve been tasked on creating a website and promotional material for the Panto and require the help from a creative artist who can help paint a scene from the show. I would like to start with this as the imagery will be used on the website, flyers and other promotional material.
Inspiration for the image will be using the old-style seaside postcard designs for the characters mixed with 19th century period themed fashion; keeping the feel of the era mixed with the tongue and cheek of old style seaside postcards. The scene will be of when the winner is announced which takes place on a small stage, on the beach with 4 main characters on the stage.
As part of the project I would also like help with the shows branding and require a logo designed along with look and feel for the whole shows promotional materials.
I would be interested to hear from people who would love to be involved with this unique project. I would like to see some examples of your previous work and a rough ball park figure of costs, this is just so I know if you’re going to charge me £100 or £1,000. I’d also like to know why you’re interested in the project and what you would bring to it.
Following your proposal I will narrow it down to a shortlist and arrange a Skype call to discuss further. As you can appreciate it’s hard to articulate this fully without having a conversation about the full requirements.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Things to avoid: No sexual references, this is a family show

Hi Elizabeth,
Is this project still open? I responded to your reply a few days ago and am waiting to hear back from you so I know if I should place a bid or not...please respond either way and let me know your thoughts to my inquiries. Thanks so much!

Hi could you please elaborate the job details in more?please let me know your availability and best way to reach you.when do you need it to be done?

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for inviting me to bid! Can you please tell me the size of the artwork needed for the poster image and an estimate of the budget you have in mind for this project? Also, would a Victorian woodcut collage image be a style you'd consider and what is your deadline?
Thanks!
~LaurenElizabeth H.14 Mar 2017Hello Lauren
I'm unsure the size of the image to be honest, I need it to bring to life a A4 poster, flyer and used on the homepage of the website so something that fits that.
I don't have a budget, I'm interested to see how much something like this would cost and then go from there if possible.
They style we're looking for is the old style seaside postcards but in keeping with the era, we like this as there is a humor element to it.
We ideally want this done ASAP but would wait for upto 3 weeks for completion.
Many thanks
Elizabeth
Lauren C.14 Mar 2017Thanks for getting back to me, Elizabeth! An 8x10 inch illustration should be fine to print to A4 size and depending on the detail & # of revisions it would be approx. 150 USD. Would that work within your budget? Also would a high res. JPG work to send the image, if hired? If so I will be happy to place a bid and include samples of relevant work I've done for other clients. Please let me know your thoughts.
Thank you!
Lauren
