Understanding more about how to design with SolidWorks.

My name is Ayanna and I'm currently a furniture and product student that is absolutely horrible with SolidWorks. I'm looking for a tutor where they can guide me and most importantly explain how SolidWorks works. In the last couple of months, I've gotten better and can now create some designs but I keep hitting a few brick walls when I'm practising a make of a design.

My problem is, I'm not sure what it is that I'm doing wrong and how I can fix it, so that's where I would need some guidance on how to approach a detailed design.

I've attached my latest practices so you can evaluate my level. The lamp is my design for a company I was working for on my placement, which turned out great, but I'm not sure if it's completely accurate. So feedback would be brill.
