Description
Design details: We require somebody to work in Solidworks using our sketched diagram and simple 2D scaled Tuk Tuk drawings and to develop the new bodyshape and features outlined above. We require materials to be specified for the construction and are keen to use modern, lightweight composite materials where possible. The design needs to utilize the classic look and feel of the vehicle and enhance the appearance with the addition of the new luggage rack.
We want you to provide a detailed scaled technical drawing for our builders to work from and a 3D model so our client can visualize the final vehicle appearance.
Photos – We have supplied photos of the Tuk Tuk in its current state and with the fabric canopy removed. You could either use the current metal frame over the rear section of the vehicle or we could remove and replace with an all new one if you feel this would provide a better finished result.

We have a 2D outline of the Tuk Tuk to help you get going here; https://raccoonltd.box.com/s/tu9cjfl0ubg93u35zgvjh6helkwq8dbk
One of our team sketched a simple visual which can be seen here; https://raccoonltd.box.com/s/wztqey44khr4d5oqown3rinu2q3deju0
Ideas for the visual style: High class, prestige look and feel to the vehicle once built
Things to avoid: We need accurate drawings for our builders to use not just 3D visuals
Extra notes: The complete job brief can be viewed in the attached PDF document. Any questions, please do ask me!

Hi Richard,
sounds like an interesting and unique project!
We work with Solidworks complete with full license and up to date versions.
Few queries do you require only the rear upper section, including new luggage compartment and side doors to be designed? Will you be reusing the original front end?
My first thoughts looking over the pictures, the upper original frame looks to be aluminium and looks a reasonable design to work off this would allow an additional frame to be bolted to the back to take the luggage and all cladded in a 3mm aluminium backed composite that can be formed around the corners creating curved corners and no cuts i.e. no joints to allow any water to leak in, then capped over the top in one piece; This will also aid insulating the rear.
The doors I feel could be better to manufacture with the hinged side to be on the vertical non curved side (opening towards the rear) to allow a continuous piano hinge which will in turn create a closed gap & give longevity to the continuous usage.
With regards to colour scheme I would thought an overall satin black finish with accenting brass components and fixtures, along with smaller gloss black trims to achieve a prestige look.
Look forward to hearing back,
Kind regards,
AdamRichard C.01 Dec 2016Hi Adam,
Your ideas and comments are all correct. We just want the rear passenger areas and luggage box to the rear designed into the current vehicle. Door positioning is correct and any suggestions for manufacture appreciated. We could use a 3mm ACM for fabricating the walls and roof and could then use a steel frame for the luggage compartment to the rear. We will finish the finished vehicle in a single paint finish to be decided by the client.
Can you send me your charge for this work and also how long you would need to complete?
Thanks,
Richard -
