Chartered Structural Engineer – Gabion Wall Sign-Off (UK)

We are urgently seeking a UK-based Chartered Structural Engineer to review and certify existing gabion retaining walls that have been constructed in accordance with a prior engineer’s design.

Building Control has confirmed that the works are acceptable in principle; however, our original engineer does not hold the appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance to issue the completion certificate. We therefore require an independent engineer with suitable credentials to review the works and provide sign-off.

Scope of Work

-Review existing structural design information
-Assess construction of gabion retaining walls (photos provided initially)
-Confirm compliance with relevant UK standards
-Issue structural certification / sign-off for Building Control
-Optional site visit if required (to be agreed separately)

Essential Requirements (Please do not apply if these are not met)

-Chartered Engineer (CEng)
-Membership of MIStructE and/or MICE
-Professional Indemnity Insurance sufficient to issue structural certification
-Experience with retaining walls / gabion structures
-Familiarity with UK Building Control requirements

Deliverables

-Written structural sign-off / certificate suitable for Building Control
-Any supporting notes required by the local authority
