Description
Experience Level: Entry
Design details: Just the steel!
Ideas for the visual style: Steel only
Extra notes: I need a 3 story structural steel box designed to a 2 kN/m² residential load.
Each floor is as specified in the attached file and 2.4m finished high.
All columns/beams need to be Universal Beams or Universal Columns from page 13/14 of this list:
http://www.steel.ie/Components/DugganSteelIrl-Brochure2013forWebsite.pdf
It will sit on 2 steel beams which will be suspended between two walls.
All 3 rooms will be bedrooms.
The building will sit at one end, touching the edge of the wall but not sitting over the wall.
Ideally made from
4 uprights,
2 long support beams on the base with 2 beams across them to form a quadrilateral for the first floor
4 beams to form the a quadrilateral for the second floor
4 beams to form the a quadrilateral for the third floor
4 beams to form the a quadrilateral for the roof
I have done a really rough model in SketchUp of the extension in yellow and the structural steel in red. The steel was not completed, but you get the idea.
The measurements of the yellow building are correct, the walls which the beams sit on are about 250mm wide and need to be added.
Please confirm if diagonal bracing will be required.
Extension will have 225mm x 44mm floors sheeted in plywood and the exterior will be sprayfoam plastic cladded plywood on 115mm x 35mm timber with 12mm plasterboard on the internal wall.
Roof will be 18mm ply covered by 18mm OSB3 with a glass fibre top coat.
