Children's Artist

Design details: I'd need images of a boy and girl, a mother and some various scenes relating to each book. I anticipate the pages to be white and so it's the predominant figures/scene that need to be drawn, not a large landscape.
Ideas for the visual style: Warm, Engaging, Innocent, Friendly, Recognisable style.

This is a speculative message and I'm trying to gauge a price.

I've written a small children's story based on my 4 year old son. When I asked him where he wanted to go on a day trip, he replied "Shall we go to the month of July". As a writer, I couldn't avoid heading to the laptop and writing a rhyming story about a little boy journeying to July for his birthday.

It's very short and I'll be keen to look at getting it published, whilst continuing the idea as a series - one for each month or one for special events such as Christmas, Halloween etc.

What I'm looking for is an artist who can produce the characters and has a unique style that will translate into each book - The Axel Scheffler to my Julia Donaldson, as such.

However, here's the tricky part - I'm a freelance writer and so I can't commit to a mammoth initial outlay. I'll obviously have to pay something to get the wheels in motion, but until I can publish/sell the books, I'd be looking for a low rate. That said, as far as publishing goes, your name can be as obvious as mine on publications. It would be a team effort.

I'm a fair and reliable person - please see my feedback, but what I'm looking for is someone who perhaps needs a partner in crime for reaching a new audience or gaining a stronger reputation. - Maybe even an international artist who wants recognition further afield.

I'd love to hear from you and it's be great to see some examples of your drawings.

We'd be collaborating and so I guess my payment will be reflective of getting you on board - thereafter, we'd share what we can make from publication.
