3D animation of ocean currents

Design details: We need a 3D animation of ocean currents based on the results of a numerical simulation we have produced.
The currents vary in time in direction and strength. Hence arrows at different géographical locations and at different depths which vary in direction and length (to represent the varying strength) would be ideal.
The arrow could also change color with strength. So, we would need a colorbar to indicate the colors associated with each current speed value range.
The animation does need to be longer than 20-30 seconds as long as you are able to show a reversal of the flow direction.

The animation should also show the bathymetry (the relief on the bottom of the ocean) that we will provide.
The ocean current dataset is in the Netcdf format. We have no preference regarding the software to be used as long as the animation looks clear and cool.
