Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are a small IT company and have small 1 room offices in 3 cities, each approx 6m x 4m. We want to create a unique, modular work environment for our team that reflects a futuristic feel with creative design.
We require a modular 'kit' that we can use for each office which uses easily located local materials to emulate your design. The design must be 'generic' (so you can design it in a standard 6m x 4m office cube) and it needs to comfortably seat 4 people with room for 2 more 'small seats' (ie for visitors).
I don't want to dictate too much what your approach must be, as I am looking for a creative solution, but here are my overall thoughts:
1. The design should include modular 'pieces' that can be easily added to a rented office without damaging the floor, walls or ceiling. (ie no contruction or fixing onto walls or floors etc).
2. We are picturing turning very boring small box-like offices into exciting work-pods, almost like a futuristic 'capsule' into which our team step each day to do their work.
3. I envisage a floor element (laid on top of the rented office carpeting), background/wall elements (ie printed pop-up structure with translucent areas to let through light from windows) to create an atmosphere, unique and comortable furniture that enhances the theme and possibly a lighting/roof element that can be supported on it's own structure.
4. I would like you to use as much digitally printed vinyl as possible so that we can change the printed theme as often and as easily as we like. So for example, there may be a huge printed backdrop on the main back-wall in the design, and then there may be printed sides on all the work-tops, and on any dividers that separate the work areas. This can then be re-printed easily and the old ones pulled off and the new ones spread onto that surface.
5. Please use light as much as possible, allowing natural light through the 'walls' as much as you can, and allowing for the possibility of mounted lights on the 'walls' (ie pop-up walls) or the 'roof' (if there is to be a roof structure).
6. We naturally cost sensitive, so this design will only work if we can source and re-create the design easily and affordably. Any materials, office furniture etc that you use will need to be easily made or sourced locally, and not at great cost.
7. Durability is also key, as we will use this 'pod' day in and day out. We do not want to find that elements are 'wobbly' or 'lean over' etc. Try to design it with elemenst that will be durable and stable.
8. Our key colour is blue and we like bright fresh colours.
Here are some images that inspired me:
I like this because the space is very similar in size to ours. and they have been able to create a 'theme' in a small space.

I like these desks and the 'island' in the center joining them, very clever

Like the use of flooring and wall design, dividers and 'props'

Really cool work pods in this one:

This works because the space is small like ours, and they have used clever design and lighting to pull it together:

Not sure if this sort of thing can be used?
