Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am Paul, I need to design a wave energy converter based on my patent application below. Im trying to get to minimum viable product stage so I can attract investors. I'm hoping you will be able to help me.
Please note this new wave energy converter has an innovative adaptation that means the device will work in any depth.
The two parts can be attached together but can also be a plunger and a piston separately, I need to show both these designs too.
The device will work when it goes up on waves and when it comes down so both lift & fall
I need included materials:
Injection moulded plastic (like boats) for the float.
Steel tubes for inner structure.
Concrete or piling for fixing to seabed.
It must be robust to work long term in the sea.
All functioning operations will be above the surface.
Variations include:
1. Direct electricity to be made by a generator and transferred to a grid or
2. Pump Compressed air to a turbine ashore or
3. Pump water to a reservoir ashore to then turn a turbine
Please can we ask you to advise your estimated costs and how many hours required to complete the project. Also, please advise the work you will be able to do to meet the project goals.

Please ask any questions. Keep questions simple as I am not an engineer! Many thanks.
Some points to think about:
Tidal Range - Height of tide/waves and inner parts of the device and the outer part of the device - the float component.
Extreme Waves
Wave Steepness
Wave Frequency
Size of Wave Converter
Shape of Wave Converter
Construction Rigid v Flexible
Materials
Type of Float
Weight of Float
Type of Fixing to Sea Bed
Neutrally Floating in Deep Water
Energy Transfer to Grid
DRM – Deployment, Retrieval, Maintenance
Yield
Kind regards
Paul
