Hello,
We use Autodesk inventor to generate 3D CAD drawings for our cylinders.
We had a graduate engineer employed who developed an iLogic program which makes it much easier and quicker for our sales team to draw cylinders. The iLogic allows us to use drop down boxes and forms to select the diameter, height, connection sizes etc then we can drag and drop the pre-drawn connections and components onto vessels and create a 2D CAD drawing from them with dimensions to send to customers. I have attached some screenshots of the software and pop up interface boxes.
Although it is useable and saves us a lot of time, the graduate left us before it was completely finished. So we are looking to improve on it as there are lots of improvements that we want to add and improve on. Such as the dished end (End with stand on the .iam list) can be different depths, so we'd like to have the ability to easily change the dished end dimensions with a pop up box.
We also want to get it to the stage where we can upload the CAD drawing into our AMADA CNC punch software so that we can punch the holes in the inner and outer materials directly from the drawing rather than having to work out a punch plan from the drawing manually.
The cylindrical bodies on the attached screenshots start as a flat sheet which we then CNC punch the holes in before the sheet is rolled into a cylindrical shape. We have all the knowledge and information to write the CNC codes manually, so we are easily able to pass this information on and explain it to the right person. To do so though the body will need to show the seam where the 2 sides of the sheets meet in the cylinder and then we weld together, as the CNC punch needs the coordinates from the bottom and the side which we call the X and Y axis.
I have just put an hourly rate in the budget to get to certs, however ideally we would like this to be done on a fixed price after an initial meeting to discuss our requirements and formulate an exact list of works that we require completing.
We would ideally like to work with somebody relatively local to Manchester UK, so that you can come in to see us to understand what we do and also easily collect the large datafiles we have of the component drawings etc which we'll need to put on a hard drive.
If you need anymore information or have any questions questions please let me know.
