Description
Experience Level: Entry
This is a simple task to create the two bridge sections of the Kapok footbridge. The Kapok footbridge is a British WWII pontoon bridge system. It is a series of interlocking sections laid on top of a series of floats. This means that it is just two parts which are repeated to create a bridge.
These parts need to be created from scratch. The bridge is made up of two parts; the walkway and the floats. You will only need to model a single walkway section and a single float and ensure that they work with one another to create a repeating bridge.
This bridge will be 3D printed in small scale. The parts will need to be simplified and made thicker than real life to help give them strength and also so that they can be printed at very small sizes (as small as 1/144 scale).
Care must be taken to ensure that the parts are made in the correct proportions.
Task 1 - Create floats
This is the task to create the floats or the ‘buoyant cushions’ that the walkway sections sit on. The floats should be simplified slightly. They should be a solid part with no gaps or bridges.
Task 2 - Create walkway
This is the task to create the walkway. The walkway needs to be simplified. It should be made a bit thicker than in reality. There should also be no spaces between each slat. This is to aid printing and casting.
The walkways must fit over the floats so that they meet in the middle of the floats. This way a long bridge can be laid out.
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED DOC FOR EXAMPLE IMAGES NEEDED TO CREATE THE BRIDGE.
