Description
Experience Level: Entry
We have developed a character set, The Sprogz, and are looking for a 3D designer to assist in bringing the characters to life by generating some 3D visualisations of the characters, each of which will be personalised to give them a unique identity. The aim of the exercise is to develop the character set further for future commercialisation across all relevant media e.g. merchandising, stationary, publishing, tv and film etc.
Please see the attachment which summarises the development of the characters so far (Series A – C) and also provides some guidance on the preferred 3D modelling style which we think will suit the ongoing development work (Series D). We are flexible in terms of the target age market which the character set appeals to and will be interested to see how your own design style may help define this aspect of the character set.
Whichever target market is bourne in mind for the development, the 3D characterisation of The Sprogz should be unified by their endearing, cute and lovable appearance, even though their personalities and outward appearance may differ. You will note from the transformation of the pointed vector graphics in Series A that the characters are much friendlier in appearance from the rounded edges and larger eyes used in Series B/C.
We will also be interested to see 3D visuals of the characters in a variety of positions and making different facial expressions, to help us connect with and understand the individual characters. As an example, please refer to the third pencil drawing from the RHS of series A, where we have contemplated how the mouth of a Sprog may appear when open.
To commence the project we would like to see ONE of the characters developed in 3D (using a mainstream modelling program such as 3DS Max or Maya) in your choice of costume/clothing i.e. based on ANY of the visuals contained in the attachment or of your own choosing. Each person chosen to submit a character will receive the fixed fee quoted. Subject to the preferred style of the visuals commissioned we will then decide upon the designer whom we would like to continue to work with.
In order to assist us in appointing you for the initial tender, we require you to provide us with 2-3 examples of PREVIOUS 3D modelling work you have undertaken of a similar / relevant nature to this brief and please highlight if you have animation experience as well. Note that in embarking upon this brief, you accept that the design work undertaken and subsequently submitted will become our property and no copyright or rights over the designs whatsoever can be claimed for in assisting us with the development of the character set.
