Extra notes: 292 Squadron Air Training Corps provides young adults aged 13-20 the chance to learn many life skills. We offer educational training at BETC level in aviation and public services, The opportunity to get flying qualifications, away on camps in the UK and abroad and learn many of the leadership and team working skills used in the military today.
RAF Air Training Corps has now moved our academic qualification exams from paper based to using online training and exams. By moving forward the ATC has kept up with the modern 'online' lifestyle. However for many squadrons throughout the country, we do not have the funds to purchase IT and teaching equipment. Also many cadets themselves come from financially hardened backgrounds and as such do not have access to personal IT equipment. This has then caused a significant delay in the teaching and training of those cadets through no fault of there own.
The National Lottery Awards4All, provides charities such as us with grants up to £10,000 for such IT and Support equipment. The key to a successful application is not really what you want, but how you write about it.
We need someone with a creative flare for writing that can sell this application to the Awards4All committee and help us get the funding we so desperately need in order to continue training these amazing young adults.
There is 7 text boxes with between 150 and 400 words per box (maximum 1550 words total), with questions like, why do you want the funding, who will it help, why will it help etc? Although no research is required as such, I would expect the writer to use websites like http://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets for inspiration.
I have attached two documents to this proposal. The first is a pdf that has been written by HQ Air Cadets on who to write a successful bid and also includes sample text of each of the 7 boxes. This cannot simply but cut and paste, no matter how easy I thought that idea was. The second is a Word Doc that I have written and extracted from the actual Awards4All Application Form and the ATC guidance document. This is just to make it more simple for you to see the questions that need answering.
The budget for this job is not a reflection of how important we think this job is, however the money is coming out of my own personal pocket and although I would like to offer more, I also need to meet my own financial commitments.
I would like the writer to have either been in the Air Cadets or had some form of dealing with cadets to understand and convey the work we do with our young people. I absolutely love giving my spare time to support my cadets. I started at 292 Sqn, Eccles, Manchester only a month ago as it was facing being closed due to dwindling numbers of cadets. We have since got that number up to 19 cadets, both male and female, and have an aggressive recruitment plan in place for the next few months to double that figure. Eccles is a typical inner city town and has it's problems with anti social behavior, unemployment and lack of prospects for young people, like most other places, however with this funding we can help the cadets to gain BTEC's which are the equivalent to 2 and 4 GCSE's. This gives the cadet such a lift up the ladder and can help with future employment. They mean so much to me, and to have this funding will make my role as the Training Officer so much easier.
The sooner you can start the better as I have already completed the application form and just need these crucial parts completing. I will award asap.
I look forward to hearing from you.
