Description
Experience Level: Entry
We are seeking a suitably skilled and experienced person to assist me on a part-time basis developing a charity and related social enterprise project based in Dorset.
The charity of which we are directors/trustees is called Conscious Ageing. Its main charitable objects are educational and it is broad aims are to help people in the second half of life. It currently has three active projects:
• Conscious Ageing: a practice-orientated project aimed at helping middle-aged and older people to find a balance, both to live life to the full, and equally to openly face the realities of a future death.
• Facing the 2020’s: a research-orientated project aimed at highlighting the demographic, environmental, economic and social pressures of the 2020’s, and promoting key response approaches.
• Men Beyond 50: a social enterprise project to help to meet the specific needs of older men through the provision of high quality information resources online and related educational products and services, and the creation of a ‘MB50 Network’ community.
A PA/support person to Dr Max Mackay-James is required to provide a range of tasks for these projects, and currently for the specific roles of:
• Administration of and fundraising for the charity
• Men Beyond 50 (MB50) project - online research, and the development of links with similar online sites and potential partners
• ‘MB50 Network’ promotion and support, and servicing of the contact list
• 8-12 hours per week: the contract would be on a self-employed basis for an initial 3 to 6 month period.
In due course assistance with other elements of all three projects may well be required as they are developed, and these would be agreed by negotiation.
Requirements:
• Office and general administrative skills and experience
• Operating skills and CMS familiarity
• self-employed, resourceful and able to work from home - living in Dorset/Devon would be essential for occasional meetings (in West Dorset).
The charity has only modest resources as it has no revenue earning sources currently. Hence we are only able to offer a paid position at a modest rate, however we are in the process of working to secure more funding at which point the hourly rate will rise to £12.00.
