Character design brief

Create a range of characters that can later be used in print and digital media applications such as features, comic strips, printed merchandise and 2D TV and Web animations. We have 6 personas from modern culture and need full colour illustrations done for each. The main thrust behind the characters is that they will be used to introduce features and content in both print and digital formats in a new project.

What needs done:

In the first instance we would like you to take two of the personas (I will list these in your message) and bring them to life. We would like to see pencil sketches initially showing the characters from front, side and back. At the moment we are casting the net wide to find a style we like so please use your judgement and ingenuity to translate our character features into a pencil sketch.
We would also like 5 items drawn for each that represent their character and lifestyle. And require initial pencils for these.

For each character I will enclose a breakdown of who they are, and a list of the items we want illustrated.

If we like your sketches we will progress to the next stage which is colouring and drawing all six characters.

Who is the target audience?

The target audience are savvy 7-12 year old boys. They will either have just been introduced to gaming or already well into it. They will be aware of a whole host of characters from this world. They don’t want the characters to be soft or cute – they need to have a funny, anarchic/trendy edge. The characters should appear older than the target audience – perhaps 15/16 years old.

When do we need then by and how much are we paying?

We need these done very quickly, and can discuss budget by message.
