Research on performance management systems

The work to be done is research on performance management in organisations. The work will cover the 4 areas identified below and should not be more than a 10 page writeup in Microsoft word and include a powerpoint presentation summarising the word document.
The areas to be covered in the research:
1) Explain the history of performance management systems in organisations.
2) Describe current developments/changes in the way organisations are managing performance and why?
3) Present atleast 6 examples/case studies of how organisations in the U.K and U.S.A are changing the way they manage performance and why?
3) Present the pros and cons of linking performance to pay.
