We are looking for a community project lead for a major community photography project around the Waterloo area; a reflection and celebration of the local cultural heritage which is taking place in summer 2024.
Must be U.K based.
The purpose of this role is to:
- Organise the recruitment and training of local volunteers to become community interviewers, interviewing people and businesses who remember Lower Marsh at the time the photos were taken to include a workshop with a cultural historian
- Managing the process of creating an audio guide to the exhibition of interviews in liaison with the curator - ensuring volunteers produce materials which align with the design of the guide
- Organising workshops for local school children to introduce them to the exhibition and to the use of photography to capture heritage
This will be a freelance role running from now - September for the main project with a smaller workload carrying on until February 2025.
Skills required:
- Previous experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers
- Strong organisational skills
Job Responsibilities
- Recruitment of a team of diverse volunteers
- Organisation of training for them including workshop with cultural historian (in conjunction with curator)
- Support for them in their role as community interviewers
- Liaison with curator over creation of audio guide to ensure volunteers produce appropriate materials
- Recruitment of schools to take part in Autumn workshops
- Organisation of workshops with external artist
- Brief evaluation and reporting on these processes
