Description
Experience Level: Expert
General information for the business: DATAA - data scientist agency
Industry: Internet/Software
Legal topic: Copyright/Patent
Description of legal work: DATAA organizes a Data Challenge with a partner media agency, MEC, to develop algorithms for cross-device identification. http://www.dataa.com/mec-data-challenge
3 teams of participants (among university students over Europe) will receive prizes from MEC Belgium, in exchange they will need to transfer their IP to MEC, while giving DATAA an unlimited right to use and modify the code.
We need to prepare a standard IP agreement to be signed by each winning team, to transfer the IP (source codes) they have developed during the challenge.
Extra notes:
The agreement should state that:
- The Data Crawler, datasets and all information about Data Crawler users, who were disclosed during the Data Challenge, remain the entire property of DATAA
- Participants ensure that they own the integrality of the IP on the source code they developed (especially if they are students or researchers in a University, this should be considered as their personal work taken on their personal time and they should ensure to have all rights to transfer it).
- Participants will transfer their code (R, Python, MatLab or any other data scientist language) to DATAA for checking and evaluation. The code should be usable and should offer a solution for cross-device identification. The code transferred, as it is, is the property of MEC Belgium. DATAA has an unlimited right to use, modify the code and merge it with another solution.
- Participants waive any right on IP when they receive the prize
