Overview
Seeking an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to assume conduct of an ongoing Magistrates’ Court matter listed for trial. The successful candidate will take full strategic control of the case, review all existing material, and provide clear, decisive representation through to trial and any pre-trial applications.
Key Responsibilities
Review full case file, MG forms, witness statements, and disclosure material
Advise on defence strategy and evidential weaknesses
Draft and submit bail variation applications where appropriate
Conduct correspondence with CPS
Identify and pursue disclosure issues
Prepare defence statement (if required)
Instruct and liaise with counsel (if needed)
Represent at case management hearings
Attend trial and conduct advocacy (or brief counsel)
Requirements
Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with Criminal Litigation accreditation
Demonstrable Magistrates’ Court trial experience
Confident handling fraud-related allegations
Strong understanding of bail law and procedural rules
Ability to act decisively and provide clear strategic advice
Working Arrangement
Initial work may be conducted remotely (file review, strategy meetings, drafting, CPS liaison). Physical attendance will be required for all court hearings and trial dates.

To provide robust, proactive defence representation with a focus on evidential analysis, procedural compliance, and strategic case management.
