Description
Experience Level: Expert
I'm looking for a VA and maybe an accountant that has an awareness of the cryptocurrency industry and managing an individuals business (no employees) to do invoices for various types of cryptocurrency payments.
I write software for an online organisation, I am paid in cryptocurrency, roughly monthly. I have an accountant who has recently set up a LTD company for me, ideally I would do without them and have one individual that manages my accounts too, interested if this is possible, alternatively interested in finding a cryptocurrency aware accountant as well. I have also set up a business bank account. I need someone who can manage my finances within this business to create invoices and help me understand how to exchange the cryptocurrency I earn and have earned in the past that is yet to be sold, in the most tax efficient way.
Regarding the way I’m paid, previously it was in DAI (a cryptocurrency pegged to the value of $1, so it’s always worth $1) that I would convert to GBP the day I got it and transfer to my bank account. I will now also be being paid in the a separate currency (call it X) this has a variable market value and I’m unlikely to sell it upon receipt, but sell it later, incurring capital gains. This needs to be invoiced somehow too.
I earned some X before it had value, it was recently put on an exchange, which gave it value, I then sold some. My accountant said to invoice the stock exchange and to put it in my business bank account. It turns out I can not withdraw money from cryptocurrency exchanges to my business bank account without setting up business accounts with the exchanges. If this is a reasonable approach to accounting for this gain then I’d be interested in having someone set up a crypto exchange business account for me and registering my business with it as well.
Oddities:
The organisation I work for doesn’t technically have an address, the money I earn is generated algorithmically by a machine and others in the community vote on whether or not I should be awarded the money. Which they likely always will as I continue to deliver. I’d like to know how this can be/have this invoiced properly.
Things that currently need doing:
* Setup business crypto exchange account to allow me to withdraw GBP directly to a business account, if that’s an appropriate way of disposing of assets.
* Create invoices when I receive payments in DAI.
* Create invoices when I receive payments in X.
* Create whatever records are necessary when I sell X for GBP and transfer to my business account.
* Register various accounts (telephone, internet, rent, whatever can be expensed through my business) with my business so I can pay for them out of my business account.
If doing accounting then also:
* Dividends / PAYE or whatever is the best way to extract money from the business to my personal account.
* Accounts at tax year end for the business.
If not doing accounting then perhaps finding me a reliable cryptocurrency aware accountant that can manage the above situation with confidence, ideally by being in contact with the VA as well as myself. I’m not currently convinced my current accountant understands the best way to approach the above situation.
There are also a few others things I could with having a crypto aware VA do. Currently though, I ultimately want to be able to sell my cryptocurrency earnings through an exchange, inform a VA and them create the necessary invoicing and ideally deal with an accountant to manage tax so I don’t have to think about it.
Payment is open for negotiation.
