Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
1. Data analysis:
• Check data validity (e.g. missing data, errors …)
• Produce proper plots to examine the variation of each continuous variable with respect to vehicle speeds (ex: Speed Vs. Humidity).
• Produce proper plots to examine the relationship between categorical data (e.g. precipitation situation) and the travel lane selected.
• Produce proper plots to explore and compare the frequency of occurrence of each precipitation situation and pavement surface status.
• Produce box and whisker plots to investigate the variation of vehicle speeds under each precipitation situation and pavement surface conditions.
• Discuss your observations.
2. Correlation analysis:
• Estimate the Pearson correlation coefficient between the continuous variables and comment on the strength of association between tested variables.
• Perform chi-squared test of independence to test the correlation between categorical variables. Comment on the strength of association between the tested variables.
• Based on your observations, discuss the parameters that should be selected to develop the regression models in Tasks 3 and 4.
3. Best linear regression model that estimates vehicle speeds under different road-weather and traffic conditions (hint: the dependent parameter is vehicle speed).
• Show model development steps and present model coefficients
• Evaluate the performance and validity of the model
• Evaluate the statistical significance of model coefficients
• Interpret the model and discuss your findings
4. Best logistic regression model that describes travel lane selection behavior different road-weather and traffic conditions (hint: the dependent parameter is the probability of a particular lane being selected).
• Show model development steps and present model coefficients
• Evaluate the performance and validity of the model
• Interpret the model and discuss your findings
Please Report in PDF format that effectively addresses above tasks.
• Use a consistent standard to format your document
• Provide a table of contents
• The Codes should be provided in an appendix
