Description
The data contains personal information in excel and will be password protected, however I am conscious of the new GDPR coming into force in May and looking for an alternative to simply emailing the files to them.
I feel an SFTP option would be suitable and I'm looking for guidance in setting this up, although I do not have a server, so that needs to be considered as well.
I can then ask the businesses to download the file from the SFTP using free online software (ie. Coreftp, Filezilla, etc.)
The 70 business can vary slightly each month, so I need the flexibility of adding/removing them.
File size will be minimal, less than 5mb for the total 70+ files.
Do ask for points of clarification if required, including whether you feel there are other more suitable options to action the process.
Thank you
Andrew L.

Hi Andrew,
Where your domain is hosted?
On the server side, are you looking in-house server or outsourced?
Kind regards,
Mohamed
Andrew L.18 Feb 2018Hi Mohammed
I'm looking to host internal to enable full control rather than outsource.

Hi Andrew,
It may be just as simple/secure to use Microsoft 1 drive.
Would you be OK with that?
CosmaAndrew L.17 Feb 2018Hi Cosma
Thanks for your interest.
Yes, I appreciate I could use One Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. but it would involve the 70+ recipients having to sign up for it as well (Although I could simply send a link to a file in my drive.)
I'm no IT expert, but I feel it just doesn't sound as secure as an SFTP route (Happy to be reassured if I am incorrect) where the recipient will have increased security by having to log into an SFTP server.
I was also wary of where the physical servers were for the large companies, but I understand they are within the EU for GDPR purposes now or based outside but hold a Privacy Shield.
Regards
Andrew

Hello Andrew, Since you don't have a server, do you need a server setup & SFTP as well?
Andrew L.16 Feb 2018Hi Vineeth
Thanks for your question.
Yes, I will need server configuration set up as well, but expect to pay the monthly server fees separately.
Regards
Andrew
