Description
Experience Level: Entry
Are you great at organisation? obsessed with detail, available to work flexibly from home and very computer literate?
I'm a writer, trainer and entrepreneur who shows charities all over the UK how to communicate, write and market better.
My website is www.ngomedia.org.uk
I'm looking for someone to work as a virtual pa, right-hand-person, secretary, gatekeeper and envelope stuffer all rolled into one.
I need someone who gets things first time, isn't afraid to use their initiative to solve simple problems (rather than bounce them back to me), who loves databases and isn't totally lost when when I say things like:
Can you give that a proofread for me?
Can you post this blog onto our website?
Can you chase up this unpaid invoice?
Can you get me to Edinburgh cheaply, on time and have the tickets waiting for me at the station?
Can you move that meeting to next week?
Can you call and stall her until I'm back at work next week?
Can you send this spec to my favourite five printers?
Some weeks you may do only one or two hours for me, others five, ten or fifteen - whichever it ends up being, you'll be happy.
While I won't expect you to jump at a moments notice, I would hope you're generally around and able to do things relatively quickly during normal working hours. (this is not evening or weekend work).
In fact , you'll probably fit me in around other similar home-based work that you already do. Your situation is likely to be like this for the foreseeable future.
Some work will be the same each week, such as printing and mailing letters created by my database, or uploading blogs to my website.
Other work will be more exciting: finding and booking conference venues, checking power point presentations, managing Excel spreadsheets to give me the data I need in the order I need it...
Well start off easy with just a few things to do, but as I get to know you and you get to know me and my business, I'll gradually release the reigns.
You'll already have your own computer, internet connection, phone and fast printer (probably a laser printer) - and won't be afraid to use them.
You will, of course, charge me for calls, postage and consumables at cost price - no markup.
You will meet all of the required criteria below and most, if not all, of the desirable ones.
Required
- demonstrable experience in an admin, secretarial or personal assistant role
- strong computer skills, particularly in database work, word processing, spreadsheets and Internet research
- great people skills and telephone manner
- proofreading experience
- demonstrable ability to work on your own initiative, with little supervision
- ability to work during normal working hours, in the UK
Desirable
- experience posting and editing blogs online
- basic HTML skills
- proofreading qualification
- accountancy or book-keeping experience
Still with me?
Great, please with an up to date CV and a covering letter demonstrating your suitability, including how you fulfil my required and desirable criteria, why you're the right person for the job, and an hourly rate.
If you don't do all of the above, you won't be considered. Sorry.
Like I say... attention to detail is a must!
I look forward to hearing from you.
