Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Job is to call respite care homes in Leicestershire - or within a (yet to be) designated radius of Leicester and (a) find out how many single occupancy rooms (if any) they have that have a full ensuite bathroom (not just a WC) (b) confirm they provide short-stay respite care (c) find out booking arrangements and when they have openings over the next 2 to 3 months.
My sense is the results of this work will best be summarized in tabular form using a Word table in landscape mode but I am open to other methods.
I don’t know how many homes there are to call (we only need to call homes that specify they offer respite care, at least initially) and I don’t have good estimate of how long it will take to call each home. The information sought shouldn’t be too difficult for any person answering the 'phone to provide - except possibly question (c) above. If this question turns out to be overly burdensome/time consuming, we can drop it for the initial work. For the moment I’m thinking that the best time would be 3 minutes and the worst 5 (after that you should hang up) and call them again later.
Completion or noticeable progress needs to be achieved by November 6th. My daughter will be visiting the UK from November 5th to 12th. During this time, she and the person who looks after my father intend to visit facilities identified as promising during this survey. At a minimum sufficient homes need to have been called that will give them 3 or 4 to visit on November 6th. So if the job is too big to complete by November 6th, it could continue for a few more days as long as my daughter receives daily updates and more homes to visit.
The budget is a placeholder, I’m flexible either way (i.e. it could cost more or less), and I’m open to working on an hourly basis which may be best anyway.
After this initial job is completed, I expect there will be follow-on work to dig deeper into arranging high-quality respite care for my father.
Below are some links that I have found to Leicestershire homes. There’s doubtless duplication on the list so an initial part of the job will be to assemble a list of 20 to 40 homes that offer respite care. Once those have been called we can add more.
Because you will need to read information on the Internet and type it into a Word Table in preparation for calling, you should either have 2 screens or a single screen large enough for you to have one document on the left and the Word Table on the right. You should also have – or be willing to sign up for free service on – Skype as this is the primary means I use for Instant Message communication. We can also use it for voice communication – but this is less critical.
I look forward and appreciate your application. I expect to make this hiring decision by the end of the day UK time October 31st, at latest.
In your application, please respond re the issue of screens/screensize/Skype etc. and of course your availability to get this job done expeditiously.
Thanks
Andrew Griffiths
