About the Role
TMC Birmingham, a registered charity, is refurbishing a building at Waverhill Road, Handsworth, Birmingham into a community centre. Construction is underway and we need a hands-on, practical project manager to join us immediately and drive Phase 1 to completion.
This is not a desk role. We need someone who will visit the site, manage the builder, keep stakeholders aligned, and make things happen.
Commitment: ~2–3 hours/day, 5 days/week (~10–15 hrs/week) Duration: 3–6 months (potential to extend) Rate: Competitive — please state your rate on application
What You'll Do
Manage and hold the main contractor accountable on site to deliver to specifications
Coordinate builder, specialist sub-contractors, BCO, and suppliers
Maintain the programme and report progress to the project committee
Attend site regularly and resolve issues quickly
Manage BCO inspections and compliance sign-offs
Keep communication clear and flowing between all parties
What We're Looking For
Proven, hands-on experience managing UK refurbishment or construction projects
Experience dealing with Building Control and specialist contractors
A people person — trusted by site workers and trustees alike
Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused
Based in Birmingham or nearby — able to visit site regularly
Professional accreditations welcome but practical experience matters more
