Database co-ordination

As database management co-ordinator, will need the ability back up files, weekly, and monthly, from my mobile device (personal digital assistant PDA, baby laptop, and maybe computer to computer, in the future...). Your technical know how, will have to assist in the direction, and advice, of the best, hardware and software for me to buy? (Apple/PC compatable, componant compatability).

From time to time you may be called upon, concerning trouble shooting issues.
