Data Steward needed for Carbon Footprint Data Gathering

We need a reliable, professional data Steward to conduct some manual research to find data and then deliver an excel database to us. That is all we need. It is a really simple job.

Later on, the data you collect will be converted by us into an algorithm so that any company that wants to calculate their carbon footprint can select their industry, then enter their annual revenue, and our calculator will tell them roughly what their carbon footprint probably is.

This is only to provide context. You will not be required to work on any algorithms. This is a simple data extraction job.

In all likelihood, we will commission the successful candidate to find more data later on so that our development team can improve the algorithm's predictive accuracy. So there is the chance of repeat work if the first project is delivered satisfactorily.

In this first project, we need you to collect the following data from 406 companies:

1. Annual Revenue (in USD$)
2. Industry
3. Annual Carbon Footprint (in tonnes of CO2 per year)

We have identified 29 industry categories. And we wish to break each industry up into 7 revenue categories:

1. Less than 1m
2. 1m – 5m
3. 5m – 10m
4. 10m – 20m
5. 20m – 50m
6. 50m – 100m
7. 100m+

For each revenue category, we need to find the Carbon Footprint of 2 companies in that industry.

So that's 2 companies x 7 revenue categories x 29 industries = 406 companies.

So the Data Steward is searching, one industry at a time, say in Oil and Gas, for 14 companies in that industry (2 in each revenue category), and looking for:

1. Their annual revenue
2. Their carbon footprint

If a company does not publish one of these two data points, the company should be discarded as we definitely need both.

And that process is repeated for 29 industries.

In the database you will build, it is essential that you provide URL links to the webpages where you found the Carbon Footprint and Revenue data, so we can verify quickly that the information is accurate.

This task must be completed by close of business Monday 28th.

More work will follow if the results are solid. We are launching three companies on November 16th and launching a crowdfunding campaign.
