Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am a professional software engineer, however I have limited web site experience. I would like to develop a web site for an analytics application. I am comfortable writing the analytics software but require a framework into which I can plug my own code.
I am looking for a developer to build a very simple "example" web site that I can then install on my own server and extend.
The web site should be delivered in an archived (zip file) directory structure that I can copy onto a Windows XP server and start running. The directory structure should be completely self contained. Any additional pre-requisites such as setting classpath should be clearly documented.
SPECIFICATION
1. the site will be built on the latest version of Apache Tomcat.
2. the site will serve HTML and Javascript web pages.
3. server side functionality will be implemented using Java servlets.
4. the site will comprise a home page that allows the User to logon to the site or register with the site.
5. a User who has not logged on will not be able to see any other parts of the site other than the homepage.
6. the register capability will allow the User to enter their email address as a Username and a Password. They will then be able to logon to the site.
7. when logged on to the site the User will be able access a personal homepage that shows their Username and two buttons - "Add Data" and "Get Data".
8. when the User presses the "Add Data" button a database record will be created comprising the Username, the Date and the Time. That record will be inserted into a database. The functionality should be coded into clearly labelled functions (e.g. a servlet called "addDataServlet") so that I can easily trace and extend.
9. when the User presses the "Get Data" button all the database records that they have created will be retrieved and displayed on their home page. The data should be displayed in a simple HTML table. The functionality should be coded into clearly labelled functions (e.g. a servlet called "getDataServlet") so that I can easily trace and extend.
10. the User should only be able to retrieve their own data. No other User's data should be displayed.
11. the data should be stored in either an Apache Derby database or a MySql database.
