Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Hello,
We require several intelligent, analytical people to gather key information from existing client websites and enter it into our online system.
We have a database of companies supplied by our partners who have agreed to trial our website control and management software. We need to collect key information from their existing websites such as current page structure, services / product categories, contact information, etc. Your task will be to collect this information and enter it into a several-part online form for submission to our development team, who will then use the data to integrate their website into our software so they can trial it.
Some of the data you will collect will be straight-forward, such as the company name, email addresses, telephone numbers etc. Other information required will require more thought and assessment on your part of what is important, e.g. choosing and copying and pasting paragraphs of text that would serve as a suitable introduction / overview of the company, choosing and copying / amending 2-3 short sentences that sum up the company ethos or key sales points. This is why we have posted this job in the Research category rather than data-entry - it require a bit of thinking and assessment and need need individuals who can draw out the key info from the site without step-by-step hand-holding.
We will provide you with tools to collect certain graphics from their site and do an assessment of the site colour scheme. Some basic knowledge of graphics editing and formats would be useful (please mention of you have any) but not essential as online training will be provided.
You will enter the data into our specially-built online system that has been created with offsite workers in mind, which lets your line manager give you feedback about your submissions, let's you ask questions and send internal messages to other staff members, to-do lists etc. It will also track how many submissions you have completed and what you need to bill us for - though all invoices and payments obviously need to be done through the People Per Hour system.
From initial testing we have found that, although the websites that need assessment vary in size and complexity, the maximum time it should take to do a complete form submission is around an hour. There are a large number of websites to get through so successful applicants will have plenty of work and it does not matter what hours or time of day you do, and there are no specific quotas, though any worker who hardly seems to be using the system may be replaced.
We are planning on making payments weekly for all the hours you have billed the previous week, always through the PPH system.
We think you will find we are well set up for freelance offsite workers who want to choose their own hours. We will initially be employing several workers and may add more in future so it is well worth bidding even if there are lots of other bidders for these positions.
In your bid please mention any experience you think might be useful, but more importantly let us know why you think you personally would suit a position like this, and also an indication of the number of hours per week you would like to work.
Many thanks
Steve
