A4 DPS Landscape Infographic/timeline illustration

We need an infographic timeline designed that will span across a DPS. The idea is to have a game board like trail from START to FINISH. With the boxes along the way including text and some pictures, it would be nice to pull out some of the boxes to make the infographic more interesting. Maybe the board should have a 3D look about it? There will need to be areas of white space as we will be placing copy in there. Ive attached a very rough drawing of what i mean, but also attached other examples that i like and would like to replicate, BUT not copy!
